Welcome Information

Our aim at Portree is to ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as we can possibly make it and to that end, we have a range of facilities below for you to enjoy. If there is something you require that we haven’t provided information on please let us know.

Coronavirus

We endeavor to make your stay as safe as possible while you are here. Please make use of hand sanitizer provided when moving around the building.
We have, unfortunately, been forced to reduce the interaction between staff and guests at all times, but please be aware that a staff member is available at all times should you have any questions.
Simply call 051 – 874 574 (00 353 51 874 574 from international phones); email us on portreeguesthouse@gmail.com; or ring the doorbell located at the entrance to the breakfast room.
We have also made changes to the breakfast procedures, to limit interaction with staff and other guests in line with Government guidance.
 
If You Feel You May Have Contracted Coronavirus
If you feel unwell or are advised that you may have become infected, please remain in your room and contact a member of staff by phone or email so that we can decide the best course of action.

Check In / Check Out

Check in is between 3pm and 9pm.
Check out is before 11am.

Breakfast

Breakfast is offered in the room next to reception between 8am and 10am. Continental breakfast costs Eur 6.50 while a full Irish breakfast costs Eur 9. Continental Breakfast is only available by prior arrangement outside of the Summer months. We also have children’s, vegetarian and light breakfast options.
If you require breakfast please make sure to order at reception the evening before. Due to social distancing regulations we can only serve a limited number of guests at a time – please contact reception to enquire about time slots still available (portreeguesthouse@gmail.com or 051 – 874 574)

Computing / Wi-fi

We offer free open wi-fi throughout the building, although speeds are stronger in common areas. Simply connect to any network with “Portree” in the name and connect – no password is needed.

Guesthouse Lounge

Please help yourself to hot drinks in our lounge, just inside our front door. We are keeping abreast of Government guidelines as regards shared spaces so may be required to close the Lounge at various points. At any rate, please make use of hand sanitizer provided and wipe down shared spaces before and after use (Remote control etc.)

Kitchen

We offer a communal kitchen for all guests to use, located in the basement (stairs down are beside reception). If you are cooking there is an Aldi supermarket located 5 minute walk away.

Laundry

We offer a laundry service to all guests. 1 load of laundry costs Eur 10.
Please be advised that we use a heat generating dryer which is not suitable for all clothes, and the service takes 24 hours for clothes to be returned.

Hair Dryers / Irons

Hair Dryers are available at reception. Please let us know if you require one.
We have an ironing station set up close to our guest kitchen. Please contact reception for more details.

Baby Cots

Baby cots are available on request – please contact a member of staff to arrange this for you.
Booking prior to arrival is advised.

Fire

All guests are requested to familiarise themselves with the fire evacuation plan located on the back of the door. If you hear the alarm please leave all belongings and proceed to the fire assembly points of the rear car park or at the corner of the store house opposite our entrance.

Post Office

The nearest Post Office is located in the entrance to the Supervalu Supermarket in the Hypercentre, Morgan Street. It ordinarily opens between 9am and 5.30pm, closing for an hour at 1pm. (It is closed on Sunday and for a half day on Saturday). The main post office is located on the Quay, around a 25 minute walk away.

ATMS

The closest ATM is in the back of the Centra shop on the Quay, located slightly past the bus station. There are also ATMs on the Quay a short walk further down at both Bank of Ireland and AIB.

Doctor

Should you require medical attention please contact reception and they will call a doctor for you. Caredoc is an out of hours GP service – 1850 334 999.

Pharmacist / Chemist

There are a number of pharmacies located a 5 minute walk away at Ballybricken. There are also a number in John Roberts’ Square, which open into the evening.

Mass

Dominican (St. Saviours at the end of our Street) offer Sunday mass at 7am and 11am with a Saturday vigil mass at 7pm.
Mass at the cathedral is at 8am and 12 noon on Sunday.
